Tucking in Your Shirt

It’s always a polite thing to do. We usually never know why we even do it, when no one appreciates it. However, we guess that it’s the right thing to do. Some research survey found that 30% of consultants present better, when they are well dressed (Tranzit Corporate).

It’s always the thing to do, when you got sweaty palms. You might even tie your shoes, again. But there’s one thing for sure, always tuck in your shirt. It’s not only the smart thing, the right thing, but also humbling. A lot of even say, it’s because a nervous thought came to their mind. But the truth of the matter has to do with investors.

At a top University, a group of professionals came to visit some of the most brilliant and enthusiastic students to see them present their projects for their capital venture firms. Some of these top students weren’t even allowed to present, because of a simple rule of thumb by some of these investors. Others forgot their materials, and blamed it on an untucked shirt--It was a sloppy morning. But it all came down to one thing. Their shirt wasn’t tucked in. The last group of students to not tuck in their shirt, found out some interesting information. Their professors that allowed them to initially present, turned down their presentation opportunity because they weren’t looking well for the school ethics and the occasion.

A lot of times, we forget to not only make ourselves look well, but also those around us. Simple mannerisms can really turn up a fortune opportunity, making some want to help (or invest), because they are a nice person with their friends, social class, Greek organization, or even their firm.

When you want someone’s money, you don’t usually ask for it. It usually comes across like begging. You try all the right methods, and hope it comes across the right way. It’s a simple phrase and action with a message that goes a long way. But in short, it always reads like this; always tuck in your shirt.
